Laptop Speaker Not Working

Method 1 – Restart your Laptop

Method 2 – Set Printer as Default Device

  • Step 1: Select “Start” from the menu and then Press and hold the “Gear” symbol to access the “Settings.”
  • Step 2: Click “System” from the options that appear once the “Settings” window appears and to continue, press “Sound” from the sidebar on the left.
  • Step 3: Navigate to the sound window’s “Output” section then choose the speakers you wish to use from the drop-down option under “Choose your output device.”

Method 3 – Run Audio Troubleshooter

  • Step 1: Tap on the “Search” icon visible on your taskbar > type troubleshoot to open ‘troubleshoot settings’ click on this proceed next.
  • Step 2: Next tap on the “Additional Troubleshooters” option, thereafter new window will open> locate the heading > ‘Get Up and Running’ > Tap on Playing audio under this heading> next click on ‘Run the troubleshooter’.

Method 4 – Troubleshoot Hardware Issues

  • Press the “Windows + R” buttons from your keyboard to open the “Run” box and type “msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic > press enter.
  • Hardware troubleshooter windows will open > follow the on-screen instructions to identify and resolve the hardware problem efficiently.

Method 5 – Update Audio Drivers

  • Right-click on the “Start” button on the bottom left corner of your screen.
  • From the context menu, click on “Device Manager” to open the Device Manager window.
  • Expand this category to see the list of audio drivers.
  • Identify your audio driver from the list and right-click on it.
  • Select “Update Driver” from the context menu.
  • In the window that appears, choose the option “Search automatically for updated driver software.”
  • Windows will automatically search for the latest driver software and install it if available.
